Perplexity replaces Google Search and Apple News for me

I use Perplexity for most search and for a daily news skim. Google for the stubborn queries. Apple News lost the paywall fight.

Perplexity is my default search now. Google still wins when I need a specific doc, a login page, or something obscure the model has not seen.

The useful bit is the synthesis with sources under it. I ask about something from yesterday and get an answer plus links instead of ten blue tabs I open and close.

News

Discover replaced Apple News for me. Without Apple One I kept hitting paywalls on full articles. Discover is a skim, not a magazine subscription, and that is fine for how I actually read news — headlines, enough context, click through when I care.

I pay for Pro. I did not expect to pay for “search.” The free tier was enough to form the habit; Pro removed the friction that made me bounce back to Google mid-task.
